Get a Trail Use Permit
The DRHT is currently a private trail, meaning that you must have a valid permit in order to use the trail. Carry your permit with you on the trail at all times! Apply for a Permit

Please Note:
Out of respect for the congregation of Little Ark Baptist Church, trail users are not currently authorized to use the portion of the trail property that passes adjacent to the Little Ark Baptist Church cemetery.

  What's New

Meadows' Residents Show Support for DRHT.
sign A new DRHT sign has been installed at mile 13 where the DRHT intersects with Panorama Drive in the Meadows. Donated by some residents of The Meadows', the sign points the way to the rest of the trail and provides a kiosk where hikers can get more information about the DRHT.

DRHT to have Antique Rail Crane
Stone Dust Going Down at Rt 605
Click for larger view
This Rail Crane, built by and for the New York Central Railroad's Maintenance of Way department in the early 20th century, weighs just under 1 ton and is hand cranked with two speeds for lifting both heavy and light objects - from buckets of spikes to 1,700 lbs. rail. Very few of these remain as they were soon replaced in favor of larger motorized and hydraulic cranes.

DRHT FUNDRAISER: Picnic Tables for the DRHT
For each Picnic Table Donation of $250, the Boy Scouts will build a picnic table and place it in a select spot along the DRHT. A plaque, engraved with the donor's name, will be mounted on each picnic table. Funds will go to both the Boy Scouts and the DRHT. Let us know you'd like to buy a picnic table
